Building Washington New Town
Here's some great clips from Washington: the First Seven Years, a 1972 film recording the birth of the Durham new town, used as part of a more contempoary documentary.
It's particularly interesting because it shows the small settlements before the new town was built, linking them up. It has some fascinating oral history too, including clips of President Carter's visit to the new town and construction of their very own sports car, the Clan Crusader, a kind of fibreglass Ferrari.
